Mike Maran – Did You Used to be R D Laing?

‘Did You Used to be R.D.Laing? is a fully staged dramatic storytelling work about the eminent Scottish psychiatrist, R.D.Laing.  With a jazz score based on the music of Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, and Chopin performed by virtuoso pianist, David Milligan, the renowned Scottish performer, Mike Maran, celebrates the life and work of a doctor who fought for the human rights and civil liberties of people who were in distress

More widely known in the sixties than Timothy Leary, R.D.Laing denounced normality for being mad, opened safe houses where schizophrenics could voyage safely through their madness, and then retreated to India.

Winner of a Herald Angel at The Edinburgh Fringe for its outstanding contribution to the Edinburgh Festival.
