Progress Report
COMPLETED
- Repointing of external walls. The Conservation Officer has requested a darker, more neutral shade. The Conservation Officer will be present to approve the technique for stone cleaning of the north facade. This will take place on Tuesday 1st June 2010.
- Lining has been applied to the auditorium upper wall instead of patch repairs to the lath and plaster. This will achieve a better finish
- Pipework has been relocated in the auditorium within the skirting boards.
DUE FOR COMPLETION:
- A more detailed colour scheme is to be approved by the board of Biggar Theatre Workshop.
- The roof is to be made watertight to prevent water ingress. It is suggested that the lead be replaced by alwitra which has a 30 year guarantee. It is much easier to fit, being lighter in weight than lead and will be much easier to patch in future years if required.
- Quotes from Sound and Lighting companies are due in.
- A quote for re-instating the rose window with standard glass has been requested. In the meantime, this window has been plastered to the detail shape of the window.
OTHER ISSUES:
- The architect has confirmed the additional costs of numbering the auditorium seats, and adding emergency lighting to the raked seating steps
- A sub-group has been set up to progress heritage related items to meet the Heritage Lottery Fund application.
- Discussions are underway in order to protect the building from damage from the annual Hogmanay Bonfire.
- Some funding for Phase 2 has been secured. Other funding possibilities are Wind Farm funding (applications being accepted in October 2010) and Big Lottery Fund - Growing Community Assets Programme (launching in June 2010)
