CXYP Frequently asked questions

Who runs the drama sessions?

We have two Group Leaders and two CXYP Assistants here at CXYP.

Our P1-7 and S1 Group Leader is Jonathan White.

The Artistic Director and Group Leader for the S2-6 Drama Group is David Ross.

All our staff are highly experienced and qualified in working with children and young people of all abilities and levels of experience.

When do the Corn Exchange Young Performers meet?

Tuesday afternoon and evening during school term time.

  • P1-4: 3.15pm – 4:15pm
  • P5-7: 4:30pm – 6pm
  • S1: 6:00pm – 7:30pm
  • S2-6:7:30pm – 9:30pm

My child is progressing to P5/S1/ S2-6. Can they join the older group?

Of course! We encourage our participants to progress through the groups, enabling them to experience new opportunities and challenges. Participants are also welcome to join Biggar Theatre Workshop when they feel ready.

How much do the sessions cost?

Fees are reviewed each term. Please email us for details biggar.cxyp@gmail.com

Are there any opportunities for parents, carers and others to see what the young people are learning?

Yes! Over five terms, from August until June, the workshops culminate in staged performances of original youth theatre. Group performance dates usually take place during the months of May, June or December.

I’m a parent of a CXYP participant, can I support CXYP in any way?

The value of our work is recognised and supported by our participants’ parents, some of whom undertake a significant commute to allow their children to participate. We are always appreciative of any parent volunteers who could help with administrative and pastoral activity and/or spare an hour or two once a term to serve drinks during our workshop intervals.

How do I contact the group leaders running the classes?

Please feel free to email them at biggar.cxyp@gmail.com.

We also have a private Facebook group, where information about the groups can be shared. Just search for Corn Exchange Young Performers or follow this link www.facebook.com/groups/1982694251986855.

Alternatively feel free to pop in for a chat before or after your child’s class. We are always keen to hear and get feedback from parents regarding our classes.
